As required by Government Code 54957.5 (b)(2) the Moreno Valley Unified District's Board Agenda are posted at the Romelio Ruiz Community Education Center - 25634 Alessandro Boulevard, Moreno Valley, California, and the Moreno Valley Public Library - 25480 Alessandro Boulevard, Moreno Valley, California.

The Board of Education will meet in Closed Session to discuss matters of student discipline, employee contract matters, and personnel matters.

Teachers who provide additional services to students and parents and attend trainings receive extra pay for extra duty at the contractual rate.  The funding is from the Special Education budget. The following item is recommended for Board approval.

2. Approve Stipend - Friday Night Live (FNL) Advisors - 2010-2011      (V)  (C)  
 

Friday Night Live (FNL) Advisors provide leadership skills, teach a message of tolerance, non-violence and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle to students ranging from elementary to high school.  The FNL Advisors also assist students in hosting drug-free school and community activities.  FNL Advisors are paid for starting and/or maintaining a FNL student chapter at their school site.  Student Services will receive reimbursement funds from the Riverside County Friday Night Live Partnership, which pays 75 percent of the stipend for school site FNL Advisors.  Funds from Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities (Title IV) will pay for the remaining 25 percent.  Advisors will be paid in June 2011 after completing and submitting their accountability logs.  Staff recommends the Board approve the stipend for Friday Night Live Advisors for 2010-2011.

Overnight field trips require Board approval. The following overnight field trip is recommended for Board approval. The funding is from fundraisers and parent donations. No students were denied the opportunity to participate due to a lack of funding.  As stipulated in Board Policy 6153, the appropriate number of chaperones will accompany the students.

5. RENEWAL OF AWARD OF BID NO. 07-08-31 FOR TRANSPORTATION VEHICLE (BUS) REPAIR FOR FISCAL YEAR 2010-2011     
 

On June 3, 2008, the Board of Education awarded contracts to Corona Auto and A-Z Bus Sales for custom vehicle/bus repair in accordance with Education Code 17596, which allows renewal of contracts for up to five (5) years for services.  The contract will be renewed for the 2010-11 fiscal year and this will be the third year of contract renewal.  Purchases from the bid will be paid from the Transportation Fund.

         
6. AWARD OF MORENO VALLEY AND FULLERTON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT BID NO. 10-11-1 FOR SPECIALTY PAPER     
 

The District went out to bid for speciality paper (construction, tissue, manuscript paper, etc.) consisting of 165 core items.  Staff sent out five bid packets and three responses were received.  Staff is recommending contract be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder, Southwest School Supplies:
